The new Glover Park Grill at the Kimpton Glover Park Hotel at 2505 Wisconsin Ave NW is open for business! The restaurant replaces Casolare, the coastal Italian restaurant from renowned chef Michael Schlow and his 'Schlow Restaurant Group'. SRG owns the Glover Park Grill as well, and Schlow has hired chef Hamilton Johnson to run the show. Johnson was the chef at Honeysuckle in Dupont circle until it closed in 2019 due to low turnout in its basement location despite many rave reviews. The restaurant business is tough and only tougher now, so please support our neighborhood restaurants if you want them to stay open!
The menu is simple and straightforward, yet upscale. The broad-appeal menu, simple name, simple logo, simple hours (5-9 every day) and comfortable and unpretentious setting should help Glover Park neighbors feel welcome to drop by anytime for a delicious meal and a cocktail or beer. Check out the menu here - there is something for everyone in your group. They have set up outdoor seating with a personal gas fired heater at each table, and the interior is large and open for proper distancing. A Wisconsin Avenue Manhattan, spicy deviled eggs, a Caesar salad and fire-grilled shrimp and grits sounds good to me.
It is likely for now you won’t even need to plan ahead and can wait until you are jonesin’ for some crab cakes and a DC Brau, then click on the simple Open Table link to reserve a table. Also, if you are worried about your Christmas gifts arriving by Christmas (if you haven’t ordered yet, good luck), then get the $80 emailed gift card and you’ll get a free $20 gift card the next day.
