Trader Joe's in Glover Park has set their Grand Opening for this Friday July 19th at 8 am. Grand Opening events will include a ribbon cutting, music, food tastings, giveaways, and more. Tom Senior, the store "captain", has been with Trader Joe's for 15 years and managed the Capitol Hill and U Street Trader Joe's in the past.
The Holiday Inn at 2101 Wisconsin Ave NW Was torn down four years ago for this major mixed-use redevelopment project by JBG Smith and includes 225 adjoining apartment and townhouse residences at the Glover House opening later this year. Glover Park residents have been awaiting the Trader Joe's opening eagerly, especially with the closing of the neighborhood Whole Foods which still is mired in a lawsuit with the landlord. Trader Joe's has indicated there will be 90 minute parking (free I think) for Trader Joe's shoppers in the garage behind the store.
