Laliguras Bistro Coming to Glover Park

Laliguras Bistro, serving Indian and Nepalese cuisine, will be opening this Fall in the long-vacant Bruegger's Bagels location at 2334 Wisconsin Ave NW in Glover Park. Bruegger's Bagels closed over a year ago, and the El Salvadoran Embassy, also at the Calvert Center complex at 2332-2334 Wisconsin, closed a while before that, and the building has sat vacant ever since. Domino's Pizza claimed part of the space a few months ago (see prior article), and now Laliguras will take the rest of the space (all of the Bruegger's location and part of the former embassy space) for a sit-down restaurant.

The owners of Laliguras opened a restaurant in Van Ness on Connecticut Avenue in 2014. They plan to keep that restaurant and expand to their second location in Glover Park. This will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood considering the Heritage India relocation last year (see prior blog article). According to their website, laliguras "are the bright red, vibrant flowers of the rhododenron plant, which colors the hills in the spring color of bright red in Nepal."

Their menu will include a selection of popular Nepalese and Indian curries as well as tandoori specials. Dinner entrees at the Connecticut Ave location appear to be in the $15 +/- range and lunch specials in the $10 +/- range; and likely the menu will be similar at the Glover Park restaurant. Laliguras has a 3.5 rating average on Yelp and 4.5 (out of 5) on TripAdvisor.

Laliguras has a liquor license at their Connecticut Avenue location. A quick search of the DC Alcohilic Beverage Regulation Administration has not turned up any application, transfer or hearing yet for the Glover Park location, but one would expect they eventually would secure a license to serve alcohol.
