My wife’s bike was stolen from our backyard last night. It was one of the rare occasions it wasn’t locked which makes us think that someone had had an eye on it for a while. My bike (locked) and kids bikes were left behind. It’s a black/pink Specialized Amira ladies road bike which cost around $2k so would have been appealing to a thief. Our neighbors have also reported evidence of an intruder in their back yard also and several other bikes have been stolen recently so would recommend being vigilant. Police report has been filed.

Sorry that happened to you. My bicycle (2017 Kona Sutra) was boosted from my garage on July 15 when I left it unattended for a few minutes. I too think it was stalked. I posted about it on this forum. When I called my bicycle store to get the serial number for my insurance claim, they told me they were getting many similar calls daily because there is a big pandemic-related market for used/stolen bicycles since legitimate shops are out of inventory for low-end (sub-$1.5k) buyers. I have been trying to see if mine will turn up on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist (DC, Philadelphia, NYC), but I have lost hope.
Bike thefts, smash-and-grabs from cars, and package thefts from front porches remain a problem in Glover Park.
